A few of my favorite things from today...

Saturdays. I love this day of the week. Pancakes were on the menu for breakfast this morning. But not just regular pancakes, these were from an organic pancake batter that I just squirted out of a can onto a heated skillet. No measuring. No mixing. No mess.

I know. It seems a little ridiculous and maybe a bit on the lazy side. Just so you know, this was a gift courtesy of one of my piano students. I didn't believe her when she said this type of batter existed. Brilliant!

After pancakes, I attended one of my favorite workout classes... Step with Nazha. She always picks great music and never, never, never slows down. Also, as I was filling up my water bottle, I over heard this conversation between two 70 year old men lifting weights and it made me smile.
Old man #1: Don't forget about the Bears game tomorrow.
Old man #2: That's right. What time?
Old man #1: Noon.
Old man #1: Oh, I'll be in church during that time so I'll have to catch the highlights. :)

I had lunch provided by the EQ activity and then stopped by the mall on my way home. Check out these sassy sandals from Old Navy clearance.... 28 cents. Yep. Everything on sale was an additional 40% off today. These will be perfect for my holiday plans.

Lovin' Kansas

Thanks to my generous friend who has connections to United buddy passes and was willing to share, I was able to spend a three day weekend at home with my fam.

Alex and baby Lincoln came too! So, Lincoln is now 5 months old and even though he lives with his parents in Denver and I'm in Chicago, I've seen him 4 times. I finally get it - how aunts can be obsessed with their nieces and nephews. I could write another post about that later.... T.B.C.

Some things you can't bring back in a suitcase...

Whenever I'm at home, I always come back feeling refreshed and uplifted. It was great catching up with friends and family and being reminded about all the great things Kansas taught me. (I'm purposely wearing a KU shirt. My mom sent it to me a few months ago!)

On the second Friday of every month...

...we have branch temple night!

It's only about a 20 minute drive from where I live.
Blessed.

Angelica + Amanda = can cram anything into a weekend

Houston with Angelica.

It was a perfect weekend.

We can cram anything and everything into about 48 hours. And we did. We prepared an outline for the weekend, which included...

Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Run with my new friends and about 30,000 Houstons.

Gotta love pink.

Manicures. (At the salon, we were asked if we were sisters! We should start counting how many times we've been asked that during our friendship.... starting now: that brings the total at least 100,000 times.)

Enjoying the 80 degree weather at the pool... Angelica grabbed her favorite new magazine, Better Homes and Garden. (This was her first issue. I deemed her a real woman.)

Delicious food. Angelica totally impressed me with her new recipes and hosting skills. Check out these lovely raspberry waffles. Cooked to perfection.

The highlight of the weekend?
Listening to General Conference together.
