♥ Our Story ♥

We're engaged!
Aaron and I are getting married on Friday, May 25 in the Denver Temple. We've only been engaged for two weeks and two days and the wedding plans are coming together quite smoothly. {Aaron loves planning as much as I do so we've been discussing wedding details non-stop.}

Aaron proposed on Friday, January 27 at the O'Hare airport. Thanks to Facebook, the news of our engagement spread around the world in minutes. I've loved hearing from so many dear friends and family members as they express their excitement and support. :) Several people have commented, "I keep checking your blog for the 'surprising ending' after your Guatemala trip!" I definitely want to remember the details of how everything happened so I'm thrilled to share the deets with you!

Remember how I spent 10 days in Guatemala? I had no Internet/cell phone connection so spending 10 days without communicating with Aaron just. about. killed. me.

{You'll love this: Aaron wrote me 10 letters - one to read each day while I was out of the country.}

On our way back to Chicago, we had a layover in Houston. I quickly gave Aaron a call to let him know I missed him! At the end of the convo, he said, "Amanda, I'll see you later."

And then he hung up.

And then I started thinking about what he said.

And then I wondered if I heard him correctly.

And then I didn't want to get my hopes up so I pretended like I didn't hear him correctly.

And then I started wondering what it would be like if he was in Chicago.

{I didn't think he would propose. I just wanted to seeeeeee him and hug him.}

Right as I was turning off my phone for the flight back to Chicago, I had this text from him:

"Circumstances beyond my control are tearing my plan apart at the seams. Just, uh, stick around at the gate when you land k?"

I daydreamed the whole flight back that he would be in Chicago to meet me.

As I walked off the plane with the rest of the team, my friend Becky and I said our goodbyes to the group. {The rest of the team had to hop on a bus back to Milwaukee. Becky had her car parked at my place and Becky's friend was on her way to pick us up. It was a little hectic so I decided to just call Aaron and see if he would pick up.}

And he answered.

And he asked me where I was.

"I'm at gate C9," I told him.

"Stay right there," he replied.

Becky and I waited for about 5 minutes.

{Meanwhile Aaron texted Becky and asked her to have her camera ready!}

And then I saw him.

Running through the airport with his green duffle bag.

He threw down his bag and we hugged.

We were both a little shocked that we were together again.

And then he grabbed me by the arms and said, "I came to ask you something. Right now."

And he proposed.

On one knee.

And I said YES!

And now we're getting married.

And now I love love.

Becky snapped this pic as we were leaving the airport. We had been engaged for about 5 mins!

My ring. I love it.

Here's a pic of us with Chicago in the background. I'll always love this city!

Oh, and as we left the airport, I asked Aaron what his original plan was for the proposal. He had quite the experience that day getting to Chicago and to the correct gate.

{I asked him to share his view of the engagement for the next blog post. He said yes!}
