Love month!

I'm obsessed with Valentine's Day!! I always have been - even when I didn't have a special Valentine for many years. I love showering the people I love with love!
Pink, red, hearts, glitter, cookies, flowers, dipped strawberries, candy... What's not to love!!

Our celebration of Valentine's Day started at the beginning of February and is lasting all month.

We loved checking the mail and receiving several Valentine's from family and friends living in other states. Thanks, everyone!

Aaron and I committed to each that we'd find creative ways to express our love for each other without spending money. (I caved and did buy some candy for my boys and a balloon, but they didn't mind!)

I sent Aaron a picture text a day leading up to Valentine's Day and he left 20 little notes around the house for me to find. I have one left and I'll be sad when this little game is over! Yesterday I went to put a load of laundry in and there was a note waiting for me by the washer. It made my day!

Eli built this at Home Depot for his dad (okay, I really built it and he watched!) and then painted it. Have you gone to the free kids' work shop the first Saturday of the month at Home Depot? It's our new favorite family tradition since living in CO.

Another new tradition that Eli loves is getting to lick the bowl after baking.

We hosted our first official party last week in our new home! We invited friends over for a Valentine's Day party and it was a blast. The kids exchanged Valentines and everyone brought lots of delicious snacks to share. We decorated cookies and the kids loved playing outside on the swing set, even though it had snowed the night before. They didn't care! Do you like my Pinterest craft I made with the three hearts? So super simple.

The day after the party we rushed up to Denver to spend time with the Volks at the airport. They had a 3.5 hour layover and we loved spending time with them! It was like a mini vacation and we didn't have to travel far to see them!!

Afterward, we of course stopped by Alex's house and spent the afternoon with cousins.

Future artists painting pics for their Valentine's... aka mom and dad!

Our favorite thing about Valentine's Day was spending the three day weekend with Aaron!! I loved that President's Day fell on Monday and Aaron had the day off. There is something special about a father/son relationship. Eli's overall a happy kid, but look at his enthusiastic smile with his dad around...

We spent Valentine's Day moving in some new living room furniture we were given from a family at church. It's so nice! I'll post a pic soon. We then picked up a double stroller from Craigslist and then we made time for a family date - glow in the dark miniature golf, dinner at Crave Burger followed by ice cream at Cold Stone.

I love attending church together as a family!

It really has been a month full of love!
xoxo

I love how you celebrated every day. I think I might have to try that next year. I'm glad you had the chance to spend time with family.
