Fighting the flu

The sickness bug hit our house this week and it wasn't fun. The good news is no one had it at the same time so we could take care of each other when it was someone's turn to be sick. :( Thankfully we're all feeling better now! We're set to go to Utah this week and we're looking forward to it.

Austin insisted on wearing socks with his sandals. Okay, little dude, okay.
And as we did laundry, Eli discovered Aaron's cap from Saudi Arabia.
The boys love examining little bugs together.
We had cauliflower fried rice this week with cut of up ham from our Easter meal It was pretty tasty.

On tax day, we were leaving the Y and discovered the shaved ice truck parked in the parking lot and giving out free shaved ice! These boys were pretty excited.
And they were excited for our science experiment this week.

The French flew over the Academy this week and we were able to see them fly over with blue, white and red smoke.

My battle wounds from raising boys. Hahah - scratch marks on my cheeks. And we love the view from our neighborhood playground.

I don't know if this is a great idea/or a really terrible one, but I found these boxing gloves on sale in a store that is closing so they were a few bucks. I found a pair for Austin too so these boys love to box. It's pretty comical actually.

And this picture of Aaron made me laugh as he was sick and freezing so decided to sleep with his running headband, gloves and sweats. Poor guy. He got it the worst. Saturday evening we had a date to Barns and Noble and Aaron spent most of his time in the "True Crime" section.

I attended a stake Women's Conference yesterday and everything was exactly what I needed to hear as I'm constantly trying to receive revelation to know how to be a better mother. I'm grateful to know that Heavenly Father hasn't just sent us to this world to figure life out alone - I know he's there and aware of our struggles, joys, and needs.

Easter Week 2017

For our FHE activity last week, we colored Easter eggs. It was fun to do an activity like this with Aaron because I tend to plan activities like this when he's at work.

On Wednesday, Aaron and Eli flew to Utah for two days to attend Spencer's graduation from the Corrections Academy. Eli was so excited. Aaron was too! Eli gave me a big hug and then started crying saying he wanted me. I was already crying, but was trying to hide the tears. Aaron bought him a donut and he was fine. Hahaha.. they had a nice father/son trip and I'm so glad they could spend two full days together. They didn't get home until 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning due to weather delays and then maintenance delays.

Austin and I had an enjoyable time together. With Aaron being gone so much last year, Austin hasn't had a lot of one on one time with either Aaron or me so the time together was something we both needed for our relationship as he jumps into being 2. It's been rough at times, but we're all working on being patient and communicating and it's helping! Austin and I went to Alex's one day (see her pretty flowers below!), grabbed Cafe Rio for dinner and then spent the next day at the park with the Bensons.

Aaron took Friday off because he had been traveling all night so he and Eli slept Friday morning while Austin and I cleaned and got our house ready for Easter. We all cleaned Friday afternoon and it was nice to have our house chores done so we could attend the Easter Egg hunt on base. The Easter bunny jumped from an airplane! And then Austin won a raffle for a Broncos' sign autographed by Peyton Manning!! We had a great time.

Easter Sunday was interesting - I sang in the choir and when I got up to sing, both Eli and Austin started crying so Aaron walked out with both of them in his arms as everyone in the congregation turned their heads to see what was going on. It was pretty hilarious. The same thing happened during the second choir song. Maybe I won't be singing in choir for a while. Hahahaha.. I loved being together on Easter Sunday as a family. Every Sunday feels like Easter to me as we attend church and refocus on lives on the Savior. What peace comes into our daily lives knowing our Savior lives!

Alex and Bryan and their kids came for Easter dinner!

More snow

More snow came to Colorado on Tuesday. Aaron had a 2 hour delay and Eli's preschool was canceled because school was canceled. We did lots of science projects at home to keep everyone busy and happy.

Eli's healthy snack of choice - whole cucumbers.
Our library has a "Grow a Reader" kit that we checked out this week after story time.

The weather finally cleared up and we spent every free second outside. The boys love when we get to play soccer on the field at the Y.

Eli was sure proud of his snowball.
And in an effort to not be a hustler so much, I really focused on cherishing little moments like this this week and the boys behavior improved so much as I focused on them instead of quickly getting things done around me.

Aaron's work had an Easter egg hunt on Saturday afternoon and the boys were filled with happiness and sugar.

And this is how the boys like to be carried these days by dad.

I taught singing time and sharing time today for both Jr. and Sr. primary. I'm exhausted.
