Monday: Eli had an eye appointment and by wearing his eye patch for two hours each day, his vision has improved SO much. We're so grateful he received the proper medical attention he needed. After the appointment, the kids asked if we could go to one of their favorite parks near by. The weather was gorgeous so I agreed. They met some new friends and had a little football game.
FHE: Aaron taught a lesson about breaking down barriers that separate us as children of God. The kids got to break down this "wall" and they giggled and giggled. We also had a lesson this week on putting on the whole armor of God.
Tuesday: some friends invited us to a pumpkin patch. I felt homesick for CO because we'd always go to a pumpkin patch with our friends, but I'm trying so hard to make new traditions here and the activity was a blast. Actually, I felt like this place was better than the ones we went to in Colorado. They had pumpkin donuts that were so, sooo yummy.
Each kid got to pick out a pumpkin to take home!
Wednesday: The kids helped me make pizza for dinner.
The boys put these pumpkins together a few days ago and they're the cutest decorations on our porch.
Before dinner, we went on a long walk around the neighborhood to check out all the Halloween decorations. When we're going down a big hill, I'll tell Eleanor to put her hands up and I love seeing this!
Friday: Aaron and the YM had a camping trip planned and the boys got to go along. They were thrilled! The weather was freezing, but they returned home, dirty, smelling like camp fire, and so happy. Eleanor and I had our first mother/daughter party and we went shopping at Target and then had dinner at Panera. Eleanor also requested that I painted her nails!
And this made me smile so much. On Friday afternoon, Austin rinsed the dishes and then he asked me if he could load the dishwasher. When the boys were camping, I opened up the dishwasher to load the remaining dishes and laughed in delight when I saw how Austin loaded the plates sideways. He's a very thoughtful boy! I loved the effort.
Everyone slept for hours on Saturday afternoon so in an effort to get out lots of wiggles before bedtime, I dragged everyone to a new park.
Aaron and I had started fasting Saturday afternoon so I made the kids a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner that evening. I found these candy eyeballs at Target and the kids couldn't stop talking about their fun dinner.
On Sunday I taught Eli's primary class (I'm a sub and I love that I've helped a lot in primary but it's only been for Austin and Eli's class. So lucky!!). Each kid got to dress in the armor of God.
And this is so cute. Eli's little friend from school had a birthday and Eli asked if he could write her a note. He doesn't know I took this picture, but it was such a thoughtful note! ;)
I don't have a picture of this, but on Thursday evening we planned to feed the missionaries, and they called and asked if they could invite a family they've been teaching to our house for dinner. We LOVED having this sweet family in our home. The spirit was felt as we all shared our love for our Savior. It was a powerful reminder to Aaron and me about the importance of sharing the gospel with others.
