Fishing

These pictures aren't in order for the week, but here's what our week looked like:

Aaron took the kids camping and fishing. Eleanor went along and she loved it as much as the boys. I love their happy faces and I love that Aaron loves camping and enjoys taking all the kids. Several men from the ward went and they all had a blast. We're already planning a family camping trip and I'll go along next time.

They came home smelling like campfire and had so many stories to share! I missed them while they were gone - like I cried because it was so quiet in the house. I was able to get a lot of errands done and cleaned up the house. I was excited when they got home!!

Earlier in the week, the kids and I went on a little hike. We do all we can to get outside as much as possible, especially before it gets blistering hot here.

Little Miss thinks she's too big for naps. She does an okay job taking quiet time in her bed. She always changes into her Elsa PJs and would wear them all day, every day if we'd let her.

On Wednesday we went to Liberty Oaks to pick up Eli's school supplies. We then picked up some donuts as a celebration of finishing up the school year.

I love these flowers as we walk around the neighborhood. They make me so happy.

Scripture Study: I wanted to capture this moment of Aaron helping Eleanor read for our scripture study. We're doing our best to each have a copy of the Book of Mormon to follow along and taking turns reading a few verses at a time. It's worked out the best this way, I think.

Our zoo has opened up and we had a free pass so we went one afternoon. I was worried when we first arrived because there were so many cars in the parking lot. I haven't even taken the kids to the store yet and we're still having church at home. I said a little prayer in my heart asking if we should just go home. As we walked around to the exhibits, there weren't as many people there as I thought and I felt like everything would be okay. We then entered the Australia area and no one was around. It was peaceful and I loved thinking about my mom's mission to Australia.

We felt so happy being on an adventure together!!

We've been watching "All Round Champion" on BYU TV. It's on Thursday evenings and we've all gotten into it. It's fun to have something to watch together.

On Friday, it was Eli's last official day of school. The teachers drove through the neighborhood again and we got to wave to them all - including the kindergarten teachers that we learned about through a virtual kindergarten roundup we did this week for Austin!! The bus driver drove through the neighborhood one last time to wrap up the school year. We waved and told him to have the best summer. He is excited to have Austin ride the bus in the fall. I was emotional as I thought about this year coming to an end. I've enjoyed homeschooling and I love having the kids at home, but I know that school is good for them too and provides them with opportunities to share their light and testimony.

Church: we've had lots of memorable church meetings together at home. I'll cherish these Sundays forever. We do miss our ward family and we were excited to get a notice this week from the first presidency that church may be opening back up soon.

4 pictures.

I only have 4 pictures on my phone from this week.

It's officially summer when we start to have Acai bowls for breakfast. :)

On Sunday, we drove out to meet Grandma and Grandpa Volk at their property! They delivered their finally two loads of stuff. We helped them unpack their trailers and we had dinner together. We're excited to have them close!

Jake was with them too so we got a few hours together before he flew home on Monday morning. Duane and LeeAnn hadn't quite finished their home projects back in Maryland so they turned around and drove back... they're almost completely done and then they'll be living in Missouri for GOOD.

Another Week at home

I've lost count how many weeks we've been at home now. There are tough moments at times, like when Eli cries and says he wishes he could go back to school to play with friends, but overall, we are all so happy to be together.

This week in pictures:
Eleanor likes to be rolled up as a burrito.
I'm reading this book about relationships and I love it. Sister Howe, my spiritual mentor in Colorado, gave it to me and I haven't had a chance to read it until now.

The kids had fun with sidewalk chalk and drawing themselves.

Here is Eli making his birthday CAKE!

He made this sign for a slide show for the teachers at Liberty Oaks for teacher appreciation week.

Austin is a bike riding machine! He's gotten faster and faster.

April 30! Eli woke up as was sooo excited to be 7!!!!

Breakfast started with cereal and present opening! He asked me if he could sleep in. I laughed because usually I've had to wake him up to get ready for the bus, but he's been "sleeping in" (which is until like 7:30 a.m.) almost every day since we've been homeschooling haha.

He was excited for the snap circuits, bike helmet, Dog Man book, Cheifs blanket and backpack. He was showered with cards from family members and felt loved all day as friends from school sent me text message to share with him.

Eli requested a sports cake so we agreed on a football cake. I did find some small sports balls to use as decorations. He asked for a happy meal for dinner and to watch Star Wars.

It was a simple, memorable day of being together to celebrate our Eli. Aaron was gone last year for the kids' birthdays so we were happy to have Aaron with us to celebrate.

We love Eli because he is determined, helpful, ambitious and a leader. The hardest part of being home school for him has been missing his classmates. He's a social kid.

Eli loves to read and dreams of playing football. Happy Birthday to my Eli. I feel like I blinked and now he's 7. When I told him I didn't want him to grow a year older, he replied, "But then next year I'll be 8 and I can get baptized!" He's looking forward to it and we're doing our best to make sure he's fully prepared to understand the covenants he'll be making at baptism.

Eli's primary teacher appeared at the door with a birthday cookie!!

And Aaron took us all to Smithville lake and we had the best time exploring and fishing.

Austin has loved preschool and I've loved being his teacher. Teaching my kids preschool is a highlight of my time as a stay at home mom. Here are all the alphabet letters Austin completed!!

And Eleanor - she found the anti-itch cream and decided to rub it all over her. Aaron brought her into the bed where I was reading and showed me her covered in cream. She's sneaky. Always.
