June Roadtrip

I pulled the boys out of school a few hours early on their last day of school and we drove to Colorado! We were so excited for time to be with so much family. We spent time in Denver with Alex's family and my parents.

Then we drove to Fruita for several days and go to spend time with Jenny and Steele and my parents. We even got to go to Evan's birthday party!!

Next we drove to Utah and spent the evening with Angela's family. Our hearts were bursting with happiness that we got to see so many cousins.

Aaron flew in for the weekend and we spent time visiting his grandparents before the Volk family reunion. Adelaide got to meet so many family members for the first time!

We had our reunion in Heber, Utah. We road the train, took family pictures, ate lots of sweets and laughed together.

We took Aaron to the airport on Sunday and then enjoyed a week in Utah with Angela.

Grandma Pav happened to be in Utah so we got to spend the afternoon with her!

We got to celebrate Khloe's birthday with her too! We swam with some of my cousins and I loved hugging so many family and friends.

We drove back to Fruita and spent the weekend with my parents again. I cried leaving their house. It's been so long since we've seen them and I didn't realize how lonely I've felt without family time. I'm grateful we could start our summer with the best memories. Maybe the time together was extra special because we didn't travel very much during 2020.

We made it back to Denver and spent time with Alex's family again. We squeezed in a day trip to Colorado Springs. Megan and Jeff live there now so we spent the evening with them after visiting with friends during the day.

These friends were the best when I needed them so much with Aaron being gone.

On Wednesday, I got new tires before we started back home on Thursday. Daily I prayed for safely and when Steele and my brother-in-law separately pointed out my bawled tires, I figured it was a nudge from the spirit to get those taken care of. Alex kept my kids while Adelaide and I got new tires. We walked around TJ Maxx while we waited for the car and Adelaide set in the cart of the first time.

Three weeks later and we were all very excited to make it back home. We missed Aaron lots! Adelaide didn't sleep very well during the trip and I was exhausted, but so happy to be with so many people we love and have missed.

We were excited to be home to celebrate Father's Day with Aaron! He deserves being celebrated every day of the year. The boys sang a song that made me cry - "I see a hero, I see a light. Living by faith every day by my side. I see a hero. I see a star. Showing the way just be being who you are. Best of all I see, who I hope to be. A hero, like you are to me."

Eleanor used to wear these PJs and camouflage into her crib sheet! She's sleeping so much better in her crib now and with a little more routine. Eleanor and Adelaide are sharing a room and Eleanor is so excited to have a roommate. :)

I don't know when we'll go back to Utah and Colorado again, but I loved traveling to see everyone in the summer. Here's to a new summer vacation tradition of seeing as much family as possible!

Finishing up May

May has come and gone. Eleanor finished up her music class and loved it so much. She'll probably do it again next year. I enjoyed it too.

Aaron was gone for another week for his reserve duty and I found a tick in Eleanor's hair. It grossed me out so much. I was brave and removed it. I'm grateful I got it all out and she didn't get sick or anything. Lesson learned - don't forget the bug spray.

Eleanor singing in the rain.

Adelaide got to try out the park swing for the first time. She giggled and smiled. I'm grateful for a friend that snapped a picture of me at the swings.

Our neighbor invited us to daughter's birthday party. They obviously own a balloon business. It was darling.

She's so happy and content with the simple things of life. I love her so much.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! What a great year they had! Even though they wore a mask and watched TV during lunch time, I'm grateful they were able to be at school during the pandemic. They made great friends and came home each day to tell me about their experiences at school. I jokingly say I want to home school them, but I love seeing them figure out how to navigate this world we live in.
