Cute baby boy!

We have a very happy little guy at our house!
It's so fun to see him smile and talk and explore the world around him each day.
He's now 2 months old and I still can't get enough of him!

Eli and I survived this past week alone while Aaron ventured off to Scout Camp. Eli and I had a fun week of shopping, eating out with friends and catching up with friends on the phone. Several people have asked if I survived the week okay - I'm extra grateful to have Eli around because we've become the best of friends. He's also a great shopping buddy.

We're excited for the month of JULY to be here on Monday! Aaron's brother and his family are visiting next week and then we're headed to Colorado for the 24th celebration. Eli's really excited to meet more of his cousins. :)

Can't wait to hear how you celebrated the 4th of July!

We did it!

Eli and I finished reading all the talks from the April General Conference!

We read one, sometimes two, talks a day and enjoyed reading them together.

I remember a talk given by Elder Bednar that talked about infants and the Book of Mormon - I did a quick search today and found the talk that I thought about often as Aaron and I prepared to welcome a new baby in our home.

"Youth of all ages, even infants, can and do respond to the distinctive spirit of the Book of Mormon. Children may not understand all of the words and stories, but they certainly can feel the “familiar spirit” described by Isaiah (Isaiah 29:4; see also 2 Nephi 26:16). And the questions a child asks, the observations a child shares, and the discussions that occur provide crucial spiritual early warning signals. Importantly, such conversations can help parents to discern what their children are learning, thinking, and feeling about the truths contained in this sacred volume of scripture, as well as the difficulties they may be facing."

Now we plan to read the Book of Mormon together!

In other news, Eli has learned to shake a rattle and he loves it.

We also spent Saturday afternoon in Old Town Alexandria. We enjoyed lunch, ice cream and exploring all the little shops on King street.

And now it's raining! Did the east coast forget it's summer or something?!

Summer of Day Trips

Aaron and I have decided to call this summer the Summer of Day Trips. Since we're stationed on the east coast, we want to take advantage of all the great cities that we can drive to within a few hours.

Our first trip was to Philadelphia! We were lucky enough to meet up with some of our friends that are currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House. It was so great to see them and we enjoyed Philly Steak and Cheese sandwiches together. They were delish!

After lunch, we toured around Philly to see the incredible historical and touristy sites.

Our destinations included the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall (where the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted) and the LOVE statue.

Why do I always miss Chicago when I see a city skyline?

This little guy probably won't remember the trip very well. We'll have to go back again soon!

Now we're trying to figure out what city we'll go to next!

Happppy Summer!

Pictures and more pictures

I guess sometimes I'm afraid I'll annoy all my friends if I post a daily picture of my baby boy on Instagram or FB. I figure if you're checking the blog it's because you also think my baby is cute and you too want to see him. :)

Here are just a few pics from this week.
I know, I'm a little obsessed with taking pictures of him. I can't help it!

Did you know they make flip-flops this small?!
Darling, right?
My mom found them while she was out here at Goodwill for a buck. They fall off the second he kicks. I don't even care putting them on him over and over again. It's all about looking good!

Baby Eli had a little Dr. appointment this week to check on a small dimple on his back. Good news! Everything looks fine.

Did I ever mention Eli's tongue was tied when he was born? (Turns out it's hereditary. Pretty sure it comes from Aaron's side. hahah.. he has like 4 family members from his extended family that were also born with a tied tongue.) Eli's tongue was clipped when he was two weeks old and now he just loves sticking it out. When Aaron heard that a person that is tongue tied may not be able to lick a popsicle, stick out their tongue or french kiss, he wanted it clipped immediately.

In other news, Aaron's been leaving random hearts around the house for me to find this week. He recently got a new calling at church so he's not around much. But, these little hearts make me smile.

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend! We're headed to Philly tomorrow. I'll post pics next week.
