I've blogged before about how everyone stops me and says, "Enjoy your little guy. He'll be grown up before you know it!" People still tell me that all the time. In fact, I got teary eyed this week when one older man told me that he loves being with his wife now, but the happiest times in his life were with his young boys at home. As he handed Eli a toy, he reminisced about wrestling with his boys on the floor and always joking around with them. He then looked over at me and said, "The sad part is that your kids will outgrow playing around with you before you do. I remember mine saying, 'Dad, we're too old for that now.'"
I started tearing up. A little ridiculous I know. But, I seriously l-o-v-e being a mom and want to keep my little one little forever. I've really been focusing on being a mom in the moment - does that make sense? The other day I was washing the dishes and trying to complete my "to-do" list for the day and I looked over at my little guy playing on the floor by himself. I put down the dishcloth and said out loud, "the dishes can wait!" One adjustment for me from going to a full-time corporate job to a stay-at-home-mom is that I've now made my home almost like my office - always making sure I'm not wasting time and that I'm staying on top of my list of things to do. But, I have to remind myself that one of the huge blessings about staying at home right now is that I can make fun memories with Eli. We went to the park today and enjoyed the sunshine with friends.
Oh, and now I hear my baby starting to wake up. Gotta run! Enjoy your weekend!

This is my first time to see his little teeth! I can't wait to squeeze him a lot!!
What a great reflection you shared, Amanda! I enjoyed reading your post. :)
cute little man!
It's sad that babies grow so fast.
But, it's fun to watch them grow and watch their personality come out!
This is beautiful! Have you heard the song, "The dishes can wait, later I'll sleep. I'm singing to baby, for babies won't keep." I tried finding it on YouTube, but couldn't find it. I have the music and words for the piano. I'll take a picture and send it to you. I sing it to Skye and usually start crying.
