September is officially over! It's one of my favorite months and this time it was a good one.
The boys ask daily if we can do science experiments. On Monday we grew crystals.
I jokingly told them I had a solution to keep them quiet.
On Wednesday we went to the mall to say hi to the puppies. It was cold and cloudy all week so we tried many indoor activities to still keep us active and happy.
Poor Austin got a weird fever on Wednesday evening. We cuddled on the couch and watched several movies. It's rough to see my kids not feel well. He woke up feeling lots better so we decided to go to the space museum here in the Springs. It's small, but never crowded (and inexpensive for us to get in with our military discount and online coupon!) and we always enjoy it.
I read this cute idea in a book to give your kids invitations to General Conference. I printed these out and the boys were thrilled and asking every morning if it was General Conference yet.
Friday morning Austin woke up and ate breakfast and then fell asleep on me for another hour and 1/2. It was so strange, and I was worried, but then he woke up and was a happy camper. He had gotten up several times in the night so maybe he was just catching up from his sleep, I guess.
Friday we cleaned house all day and then went up to the bass to meet Aaron. He wanted to take the boys to a boxing match. Hahah - the boys feel asleep in our new car. It's comfy! And the boys have now been boxing every day.
Friday night was exhausting as Aaron got a call about some possible police related events at the base. He left for work at 10:00 p.m. and got home at 3:30 a.m. I was so worried and cried and prayed and was so grateful everything turned out to be a false alarm.
Saturday morning we were all so excited for General Conference. The boys and I went to the dollar store to get little prizes like stamps, sticker books and silly putty to enjoy during conference. They had already seen the prizes, but I thought it'd be fun to wrap them up anyway and it was like Christmas morning over here. hahah
We made donuts! With eggs on the side of course. ;)
We decided to go on a nature walk before conference. It was finally warmer and sunny!!
Aaron wrapped up the boys like burritos.
After conference today we drove up to the mountains for dinner. Aaron made a breakfast casserole in the crock-pot and it was yummy.
We love being outside and seeing the leaves changing colors!
General Conference was so, so good. It always is. (Last year Aaron was deployed so we enjoyed Conference even more this fall with him here!!) Conference seems to come right when I don't know if I can carry the weight of this world on my shoulders anymore. There were so many great talks. I was spiritually uplifted - I cried. Felt the spirit. Received answers to my prayers and worries. And am excited to study the talks.
This was one of my favorite quotes and came to an answer to my prayer about becoming a better mother: "Truly loving others requires the ongoing practice of accepting the best efforts of people whose life experiences and limitations we may never fully know." Elder Zwick.
