Eleanor Joy Volk joined our family on Monday. January 15! Aaron gave me a blessing Sunday evening, the night before we headed to the hospital. His blessing brought me so much peace. I kept wondering if my body would "naturally go into labor" and if I would have a vaginal delivery even though I've had 2 c-sections. When nothing had really progressed with my body, we decided to go ahead with the c-section. As we were in the surgery room, my Dr. commented that my uterus is really thin and if I would have pushed, there may have been complications if my uterus erupted. I immediately felt gratitude that we went ahead with the c-section and everything was okay.
Pregnancy for 9 months and then a c-section recovery are so rough, but as I held our new baby in my arms, I felt so much love and know that the hardness of everything is worth it!
My mom was able to come and help with Eli and Austin while we were in the hospital and I loved knowing they were spending time with their grandma. :) One of the sweetest memories was when Eli and Austin came to the hospital to visit their new sister! They were all smiling from ear to ear.
Eleanor's going home outfit! We arrived home to this sign on our door made by my mom and the boys and food delivered from my visiting teachers!
So may hugs!
With a January birth planned, I was nervous the weather would prevent my mom from being able to drive here - but the weather was clear and my mom got here with no problems. I cried so hard when my mom had to leave!! She was here for almost a week and then a snow storm was coming so we all decided it was best if she headed home before the storm arrived. I was so sad to see her leave!
Aaron and I stare at our little baby girl and are in awe at the miracle of life. How grateful we are the Heavenly Father has created families for us to learn and grow together. Welcome to our home baby girl!
