Home Update

We finished this colorful puzzle and loved it! It has 500 pieces and the boys did awesome with it!

There are lots of tulips in our neighborhood and they make me so happy.

Holy Week: In preparation for Easter, we spent all week talking about the final week of Christ's life. I love Easter! For FHE, we died Easter eggs together.

Homeschooling: Eli wrote sight words in salt.

More pretty flowers!

Art craft on the porch. The weather was extra warm last week so we spent most of the day time hours outside in the sunshine.

It was so warm, that the kids asked if they could play with water balloons. They laughed for hours in the backyard and I loved hearing their little voices as they played together. On Thursday night, the boys and Aaron slept in the tent in the backyard. The boys were so excited!

On Friday evening, we had a Zoom call with all the Volks. Grandpa Volk's health was rapidly declining and they invited anyone interested to call in. We loved seeing everyone. We prayed together and sang songs and shared memories of Grandpa Volk - he's an unforgettable man. He slept the entire time, but it was still nice to see him. Aaron debated about running up to North Dakota to see him, but this virus has everyone being extra cautious. Grandpa Volk's advice to his grandkids: 1. Be supportive and loving to your spouse. 2. Go to church. That sums up Grandpa Volk. He's faithful and dedicated to God and his wife and family.

Grandpa Volk died 20 minutes after the call ended. What a special time this was for all of us. The funeral will be next week and because of the current health situation in society, only 10 people are allowed at the funeral. He has 9 children so all of his children and his wife will attend. There is a plan to have a celebration of his life sometime in the summer that we'd definitely love to attend.

On Saturday, we continued working on our home. Aaron primed the ceilings and finished painting them today! Yay! Families from the neighborhood put on an Easter parade and we heard it coming down our street just in time. It was fun to see everyone waving at each other.

Easter Sunday. The kids were excited to find their Easter treats.

I should have had the boys put a shirt on!

We're so grateful for what Easter means - that because Jesus Christ was resurrected, we will also all be resurrected and we can live with our family forever. I'm grateful that Aaron was able to bless and administer the Sacrament in our home. I'm grateful for the music we could sing together. I'm grateful for my children's willingness to sing primary songs and have a primary lesson together. We miss our ward family so much, but we also enjoyed the Sabbath Day together. We ended the day by having a zoom call with my Grandma Pav, my parents and all my siblings. All these visits with extended family members cheers us up!

And a friend delivered these delicious treats. It made me smile!!

Our Easter was extra meaningful this year as we talked about the joy we feel knowing we will see Grandpa Volk again. We love him and miss him and pray we can live in such a way that will allow us to be with him in the eternities.
