Eleanor's Birthday

Eleanor woke up ecstatic to be 6! I love her smile the shows she's missing her bottom tooth. Her birthday fell on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (the exact day it fell on 6 years ago!), which was a federal holiday so the kids didn't have school and Aaron was off too. It was a treat to spend the whole day together as a family. I love spending the evening before a birthday reflecting on the birth of each of my children. They're all such a miracle to me. Eleanor's birthday was so peaceful and quiet. I remember being so excited to have a girl join our family and she continues to spread sunshine and joy wherever she goes.

We opened presents after breakfast. Eleanor shared her sugar cereal with her siblings!

We had passes to Urban Air that we saved to use on her birthday. She jumped, climbed and played the morning away.

It's been freezing and snowy so it felt great to be inside and get so much exercise.

After Urban Air, we grabbed some tacos for lunch and then went to Scheels where we rode the Ferris Wheel. The employees were so kind to Eleanor. One guy announced to everyone by the Ferris Wheel that it was Eleanor's birthday and invited everyone to join in and sing to her! Then he told her she could go and get free ice cream from the food court. Another employee let her bowl for free. She felt so special! Now my other kids are asking if we can go to Scheels when it's their birthday.

When we got home, Eleanor decorated her cake! She's been dreaming of making a mermaid cake. I love when a little colored frosting and sprinkles can make my kids' dreams come true.

What a special birthday! Eleanor woke up and said, "In two more years, I can get baptized!" I'm so grateful to have Eleanor as a daughter. She teaches me to love life, express gratitude and smile.
