We miss the Davis bunch so we decided to head to Denver this morning to spend the day with them. After breakfast, we cleaned up the house and hopped in the car excited to see our cousins. During the night, I could hear the wind and it didn't stop. I'm a Kansas girl so I don't even think twice about high wind advisories. As we drove out of our neighborhood, there were several homes that had lost parts of their fences due to the storm. I started getting a nervous feeling and wondered if we should continue our drive. Eli offered a little prayer asking us to be safe and I proceeded getting on the interstate still not knowing if it was a good idea.
When I talked with Aaron today, he could hear the wind through the phone and said to be careful driving to Denver and if there were any ice spots - ice and wind could be a dangerous combination. The weather has warmed up, but his thought was ringing in my mind. When I saw a semi-truck pulled over to the side of the interstate, all I could think about was if something flew off from a semi and caused us to wreck - anyway, all these what ifs were in my head. We were only one exit away from our house and there was a sign on the interstate that said i-25 was closed ahead and to take an alternate route. We took the next exit and I pulled up the road condition on my phone. A semi had blown over and the interstate was closed. :( We agreed to stay here and the boys cried because they wanted to go to Alex's. I did too!! We pulled into McDonald's and the boys played while I continued looking at the road conditions and read that several semis had blown over! I had a grateful prayer in my heart all day today that we were safe and that we had several promptings to stay home.
Heavenly Father is watching out of us. Always. And I'm grateful to know that.
