With all of our belongings packed, we "camped" in our home for several weeks. This is how our meal time looked for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
USAFA graduation was the week we were leaving and we managed to plan a quick trip to the stadium for the Thunderbird practice. The Benson's joined us and it was a memorable time with our dear friends. I cried as we sat in the stadium. Crazy that Aaron graduated 7 years ago and our time in Colorado was coming to a close.
We had dinner with Deb and Dave. They've been the best neighbors. We love them so much.
We ran and said goodbye to the Mill's and Green's too. And one more goodbye to the Benson's before we drove to Denver. I cried each time we hugged our dear friends goodbye one last time.
Saying goodbye to Alex and her kids was heart breaking. I cried for the first few hours of our drive east. I thought I was feeling better and then we arrived at the sign that said, "Leaving Colorado" and I started crying again. We had the best memories with Alex living so close - it really was a tremendous blessing that I needed with Aaron being gone so much. I truly know Heavenly Father knew I needed to be close to her during those 4 and 1/2 years. I cried on her shoulder and she was quick to tell me to keep going and to focus on the good.
Across interstate 70, I kept seeing signs for the Wizard of Oz museum. I remember going to a museum when I was kid and thought it was the same one. I begged Aaron to let us go and then we laughed at the whole experience. The museum was tiny and had some information about the Wizard of Oz. That was pretty much it.
We did follow the yellow brink road through the town and found a park that was amazing!
And then we finally arrived to Missouri! We stayed in an extended stay hotel for a week. The kids did great. The best part of our day was when Aaron returned home from work.
We drove by Eli's new school and it's beautiful!
We discovered this park that was walking distance from our hotel and we visited it often.
