Austin is 5!!!

Aaron was gone for a few days for work and returned home just in time for Austin's birthday!!

Eleanor put on this mask and kept saying, "I'm going to go get the bad guys, okay, mom?" You can definitely tell that she has older brothers who love super heros.

Here we are preparing to Austin's birthday. We baked cupcakes to take for playgroup and his birthday cake!

After school we went to the park and Austin can now swing from the monkey bars! We visited this park last fall so it's fun to see how quickly the kids have grown since we were here last.

Wednesday is our playgroup day with our ward friends and I took mini cupcakes. We all sang happy birthday to Austin and he was so happy. I love seeing my kids' happiest smiles.

And Thursday was birthday time! Austin woke up and was excited to be FIVE!! Five is so big! He is excited about kindergarten and nervous at the same time. He says he can't wait to get on the bus with Eli, but then he loves being at home most of the day. He and Eleanor have the best time together during the day and Austin looks forward to Eli and Aaron returning home each day. His primary teachers tell me how he's always raising his hand and excited to share what he knows about the gospel discussion. He asks for a bonus hug and kiss each night and still sleeps with his two blankies. We love our Austin so much!

He opened a few presents and we had Captain Crunch for breakfast. I don't buy sugar cereal so it's a special treat for birthdays!

We had our monthly temple swap so I went to the temple for an hour while Austin and Eleanor played with their friends in the nursery. Then we went home and Austin played with his birthday toys. My parents sent Austin this red shirt he's wearing and this fun game we've played about 5 times a day. It's a good one!

While Eleanor took a nap, we decorated his birthday cake! He requested a red spider man cake. I was excited to find a Spider Man at the thrift store.

When Eli jumped off the school bus, we hopped in the car and went to Science City. Austin wanted to go when Eli could come with us. We only had about an hour, but as we walked back to the car when the museum closed, Austin said, "This was a really fun birthday!"

He climbed to the top of this for the first time!!

We returned home right when Aaron did and we all went to dinner at McAllister's Deli. Austin loves that the kids' meal comes with a cookie. I love that the kids' meals are .99 cents.

He also loves that he can now hold up one hand to show his age when someone asks how old he is!!

And more presents!! Grandma and Grandpa Volk gave him this Chief's blanket and a Chief's backpack! I can't believe my second son is now FIVE!!!

I told Austin that a lot has changed in five years for our family and he's adapted so well. We love him for it. People still comment about his handsome dimples and how much he looks identical to Aaron. They really are carbon copies of each other!!

Eli brought home these proofs for his spring pictures. I didn't plan to purchase any, but I thought they turned out so cute!!

Happiest birthday wishes Austin! We love you soooo much!
