Fire station visit/ family time

I've been working on family history a little bit more and there is a website "Find A Grave" that is run by volunteers.  A few weeks ago, I made a request to see if anyone in the Czech Republic would go to a cemetery where one of my relatives is buried and take a pictures of his headstone. I was SO grateful when a volunteer took this picture and posted it for me to see! I was able to get some dates I was missing and then I connected more dots in my family tree. So many times I feel like the advances with the internet cause more problems them benefits in this world, and I've heard other genealogists talk about how the advances in technology have allowed the work of genealogy to more forward at a more rapid pace... I was in awe as I thought about how I was able to connect with a stranger clear across the world and because of her willingness to help me out, I was able to connect the dots in my family history. It was a miracle!

The week was a bit crazy as we had a guy working on our ceilings for several days. He put a skim coat on them and then sanded it off. It was a mess and not convenient at all as we had Aaron's parents visiting us. The house was covered like this for three days and then we spent a week cleaning it all up. Aaron was able to prime two of the rooms. We're so close to being done with this project.

Our playgroup met at the fire station for a tour! We did a similar tour in Colorado when Eli was a few years old. Austin and Eleanor enjoyed it!

Cute little playgroup friends.

I didn't really know how long the ceiling work would last so we did eat out for two of the three nights. This particular night, I made some chili in the crockpot and we had dinner in the basement. Grandpa Volk set with the kids at the little table and the kids were thrilled!

On Wednesday night, I picked up Angela and Tessa at the airport! They flew in for a few days and I loved having them visit. We all did! Eleanor was obsessed with Tessa. They're a year apart, but about the same size. Eleanor loved helping with Tessa any chance she could. We took Angela and Tessa downtown to explore our city!

We even checked out Aldi - we use to shop there when we were kids growing up in the midwest so it was fun to go back together. And we quickly put a candle in a donut to sing a pre-happy birthday to Austin with family visiting!

On Saturday, the girls went shopping and Eleanor loved this little dress. Angela helped me find some decorations for our home and I loved her help!

Funny moment: Aaron put on his sunglasses and didn't even realize one of the lenses popped out! Haha. I obviously had to take a picture. On Sunday we went into primary to hear Eli's talk and then the kids practiced their song, "My Own Sacred Grove." The boys have been memorizing this song and they'll sing it in a few weeks. I love hearing all my kids sing the words over and over again - "I will find my own sacred grove, away from all of the noise of the world. I will turn to prayer, for I know He's there. I will find my own sacred grove." I pray they each will understand the importance of receiving personal revelation through prayer.

Angela and Tessa flew back home Sunday evening and I cried when I drove away from the airport! Their visit lifted my spirit! I'm so grateful for family.

When I got back from the airport, the weather was so nice so we decided to take a family walk to the temple grounds. Oh, it's such a blessing living so close to the temple.

The sky was beautiful as we headed back home from our walk.
