Why do I get so excited about the State Fair?! I heard an ad on the radio that the Colorado State Fair was this week and I decided to take the boys. Growing up in Kansas, we'd go to the fair each year and see my dad working at the John Deere booth.
It was supposed to rain, but the sun popped out and we had a great day. We got there right when it opened and found free parking. A kind gentleman working at the vendor entrance that we stumbled upon by accident, let us enter for free. He told me to enjoy the day with my boys and that's what we did!
I read an article this week about parenting and this dad said that so many parents talk about how hard parenting is (and it really is at times, I agree) but this dad talks about how if you take a step back and think about what you get to do every day as parents, parenting is a lot of FUN - like spending the day at the fair. :) My visiting teachers also came this week and reminded me about the unique phase of life that I'm in where we don't have to stick to a school schedule every day. I'm trying so hard to teach our boys to work hard and be responsible and to enjoy life as much as possible!
