Austin's Birthday Week!

Austin is FOUR! We love birthdays around here and Austin was excited for his special day. I've said this before, but Aaron's been gone for 18 months of Austin's young life - this is the first time Aaron missed his birthday though.

Captain Crunch was for breakfast! He then opened presents, built legos and then we went to Barnes and Noble.

We took Eli to school and Eleanor napped and Austin and I made his birthday cake. He requested a Batman cake and did a great job decorating it! We talked about him being four and I cried as I watched him grow up right before my eyes.

Grandma Donna gave him this Batman shirt!!

We had our neighbor Elena over for cake after school.

He looks so big on his bike! We had tortellini for dinner and then cake and ice cream. Aaron was able to FaceTime and sing happy birthday with us! It was a special day for our growing kid! Austin gives the best hugs and is the first one to run into Eleanor's room when she wakes up from a nap or in the morning. Each Sunday he asks his primary teacher if he can take a handout to his brother. Austin is a very thoughtful brother!! He loves to cuddle with me and often times while Aaron is gone, he'll crawl into my bed in the middle of the night and I actually don't even mind (except when he kicks me over and over again.) He can entertain himself alone for hours with Legos and is content most of the time. He can be very stubborn at times and is extremely quick to apologize - it's one of the things I love about him the most. He brings a lot of love into our home and we're so grateful he's ours.

Some other pictures from the week - Tylen sent me this from his wedding. It was cold and Grandma Pav shared her coat!

Thing one and thing two. The boys made these hats at the gym child watch. They both completed swim lessons and love swimming!

The weather was warm so Austin, Eleanor and I spent time at the park before picking up Eli from school.

On Thursday morning, Austin's friends came over for a birthday party! Austin has very nice friends!

We had cupcakes and presents and Austin was happy! This was his first birthday party with friends and I mainly planned it all because I knew Aaron would be gone. At the end of the day, Austin said, "I wish dad could have been here." He adores Aaron so much.

On Saturday, Eli finished up his basketball season. He loved it. Eli got himself ready every game and was excited to practice whenever possible. He hopes to continue playing in the years to come. We're grateful his friend Luke invited us to join the team!

And Eleanor felt so big being in this play tent at the Benson's house.

Happy Birthday week, Austin! We love you lots and lots!
