Thanksgiving - Colorado 2023

We pulled the kids out of school on Tuesday before Thanksgiving and drove to Colorado. We're so grateful for our van and that we're so comfortable for the drive. Adelaide fell asleep like this:

These two twins are always so excited to see each other. I overheard them giggling like old times.

Dallas had his birthday the day before Thanksgiving. With so many cousins, it was cheaper to reserve a birthday party package at Urban Air than to have us pay individually. The kids played for hours!

On Thanksgiving morning, a few of us participated in a 5K while the others went and played in a turkey bowl.

I love being with my family! We had a lovely time together. Since Angela and I knew we wouldn't be together for our 40th birthday, we made it a point to take a picture together! Having a twin sister was such a big blessing in my growing up years.

Each Thanksgiving and Christmas, I think about the year Aaron was deployed and wasn't able to be with us. I feel extra grateful each year he's with us for holidays.

Cute cousins ready to eat!

Bryan got a one wheel and had the guys try it. All the guys went boating too. It was 70 degrees in November so it just felt like a good thing to do. The guys had a blast.

I feel like Thanksgiving is our love holiday. We spent our first Thanksgiving together in 2011 in Denver and here we are together in 2023.

It's always a treat to be together so we wanted to document it!

The kids were excited to wake up to snow on Friday!

Alex and Bryan planned a root beer taste testing activity for us. We ranked the different cups from 1 to 10 and tasted some interesting root beer brands.

It was Aaron's birthday on Friday so we put a candle in some pie to sing him happy birthday!

Like each family trip, we drove home exhausted and feeling so uplifted for the time we had together!

We had been watching the weather and knew there was a winter weather advisory, but it looked like we would just be in the tip of the storm for a little bit. That wasn't the case. The weather was scary. We drove between 30-45 mph for about 3 hours. I was praying while Aaron was doing his best to navigate the drive. We saw so many cars on the side of the road. We drove home on Saturday so I was praying so hard that we'd be protected because we were doing our best to keep the Sabbath Day Holy, by not traveling on Sunday as well as drive back so we could attend church the next day. We were so grateful when our prayers were answered and we got home around 11 p.m.

The next day during church a friend in the ward texted me that she had been in the temple on Saturday (the day were were traveling home) and she felt an impression to write my name on the temple prayer roll. She said, "I don't know why, but I wanted to let you know that I put your name on the temple prayer roll yesterday." I was in tears and could hardly believe the amount of love I felt from Heavenly Father at that very moment. Little did she know I was praying my heart out as we drove home in the winter storm. I told my friend that we desperately needed her faith and the prayers from the temple as we drove home. I love when little moments happen that remind me that Heavenly Father works through other people to bless his children.
