On April 30, Eli woke up as an 11 year old. We have loved watching him grow so much this year. He has picked up the viola quickly and improved his piano skills. He loves playing sports and finding any reason to bring a group of friends together. We've started letting Eli and Austin babysit and it's been so nice to know we can trust our kids to be together while Aaron and I squeeze in a quick date.
Eli had friends join him after school for a party and then my parents arrived as the party was wrapping up. It was a lovely birthday celebration indeed!
I was 10 minutes late getting to school lunch (With three kids having different lunch times during the day, I got my times mixed up.) When Eli saw me walk into the lunch room, he came over and burst into tears. He was expecting me to join him for lunch and when I wasn't there right away, he was devastated. I'm grateful Eli was quick to forgive me and I'm even more grateful for the reminder from him that even though he's growing up, he still appreciates little things I do like show up for lunch. I can see him growing up and acting like he doesn't need Aaron and me as much, but then he suddenly becomes my little boy again and I want to hold him a little tighter for as long as I can. He's headed to middle school next year. I've been praying every day that he'll have the strength to be a good example and continue to have good friends that will influence him for the good.
I love being your mom, Eli!
My parents were able to spend a week with us. It's the little things like walking to the bus stop together that we treasure because we don't get to experience these grandparent moments daily.
Eli had an orchestra concert and we were all impressed with how much these 5th graders have learned in a year of practicing.
Donuts with Dear Ones happened to be taking place when my parents were visiting! The kids loved walking my parents into the school and showing them their classrooms.
Story time with Grandma! While the kids were in school, Adelaide got a lot of solo time with my parents.
As a mom, I love walking in on moments like this.
The principal sends a weekly newsletter to families and this picture was included as a highlight of the PTA donut event!
Austin wanted a turn sitting on Aaron's shoulders. Why does he look so huge?! He's growing like a weed! Remember when he use to sit on Aaron's shoulders as a toddler?! Why does time keep rushing forward so much?
Grandma joined us on our Sunday temple walk!
Eli is counting down the months until he can get his temple recommend and attend the temple next January, the year he'll turn 12.
